Converting DDE Links to UDF in Batch

You can convert multiple document's DDE-based links to UDF. This is useful for converting multiple documents at once rather than opening and converting each individually.

  • Only the document in which you are converting links should be open, all others must be closed prior to the conversion.

Note: A conversion will not occur if the document is currently open on another workstation, if the document is read-only, or if the user performing the conversion lacks full read and write access to the document. Documents contained within Locked Down client files are read-only and will not be converted.

  1. Open the document.
  2. Navigate to Tools | Convert | Connector DDE links in batch.
  3. Complete the Connector Convert dialog. >>Quick Reference.
  4. Click OK.

Once the conversion is complete, a prompt will appear detailing the number of successful conversions and asking if the conversion report should be displayed. The conversion report will also provide a summary which lists any instances of files that were not converted.

  • A conversion will not occur if the document is currently open on another workstation, read-only, or if the user performing the conversion lacks full read and write access to the document. The conversion report will list these instances when found.
  • Documents contained within Locked Down client files are read-only and will not be converted. The conversion report will list these instances when found.
  • A Word document will be recalculated after the conversion even if Options|Update Links on Open is set to NO.
