User List

To display this pane, click in the status bar at the bottom of the screen next to the User Name. You can also select View | User List or enter "cw:userlist" in the browser URL field.

Lists the documents currently open from the active client file including: other instances of Working Papers, CaseView, and Excel (via Connector). CaseView documents opened in read-only mode are not listed.

If other users are in the client file, their names will be listed alphabetically by User ID (not User Name). As users open and close the file, the list will automatically refresh to add/remove users as necessary. User information will include their User ID, full name (if available), and the name of the computer he/she is accessing the file from. This list also includes the applications other users are accessing the file with. The users are grouped, so if a user has the file open multiple times on the same computer, only one entry should appear in the list (with the list of applications being used to access the file).

  • If any user has a CaseView document open, this information will also be displayed.
  • Double-clicking on a user will expand/collapse to show/hide the document list.
  • Double-clicking on a user will expand/collapse the document list.

List online users accessing synchronized copies of the same parent file. The list is automatically updated as users open and close documents.

  • The User List does not indicate the exact documents a user has open.
  • Offline users are not listed.
  • In Peer-to-Peer synchronization, only users on the same domain are listed.
  • The list may take up to 10 seconds to refresh.
  • An error message will display should you attempt to access a file while another user is performing one of the following functions:

    • Consolidation
    • Year-end Close (destination file, multiple year-end close only)
    • Copy Components (copy all - destination file)
    • SmartSync Repair
    • Repair File (except repost - if two users perform a repost at the same time, the second user will receive the error message)
    • Sign out
