Enabling Connector after it has been Disabled

If you are having trouble enabling CaseWare Connector in Microsoft Excel or Word after it has been disabled, follow the troubleshooting instructions outlined in this topic.
This troubleshooting procedure can be a two step process. The first step is to manage and configure the CaseWare Connector Add-in. If the problem is not resolved after doing this, you will have to perform the second step, which is to change the registry settings for Word or Excel.

Managing Add-Ins

  1. Open Excel or Word and navigate to Excel/Word Options | Add-Ins.
  2. In the Manage drop-down menu, select Disabled Items then click Go...
  3. In the Disabled Items list, choose CaseWare Connector, then click Enable.
  4. In the Manage drop-down menu, select COM Add-Ins then click Go...
  5. In the COM Add-Ins dialog, check the CaseWare Connector checkbox, then click OK.

    Connector should appear in the Add-ins tab.

  6. Open and close Excel or Word. If the Connector tab is still present, the problem has been resolved. If Connector is not present, proceed to change the Registry settings.

Changing Registry settings

  1. Open the Registry Editor.
  2. Navigate to the relevant location and set the LoadBehavior to 2 as indicated below:

    Operating System and Office Version   Location

    64-bit OS with 64-bit Office or 32-bit OS with 32-bit Office

    Excel HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\CWAddIn.CWExcelAddIn.1 : LoadBehavior, set LoadBehavior=2
    Word HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins\CWAddIn.CWWordAddIn.1 : LoadBehavior, set LoadBehavior=2
    64-bit OS with 32-bit Office Excel HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\CWAddIn.CWExcelAddIn.1 : LoadBehavior, set LoadBehavior=2
    Word HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins\CWAddIn.CWWordAddIn.1 : LoadBehavior, set LoadBehavior=2
  3. Open Excel or Word and navigate to Excel/Word Options | Add-Ins.
  4. In the Manage drop-down menu, select COM Add-Ins, then click Go...
  5. In the COM Add-Ins dialog, check the CaseWare Connector checkbox, then click OK.

    Note: It is possible that you will need to repeat steps 4 and 5 once more before Connector will load automatically upon starting up Excel or Word.

The Connector Add-in will be enabled once again.
