New Account and Account Properties Dialog

In a consolidated file, select the name of the entity to which the account belongs.

Type an account number. The account number can be up to 40 alphanumeric characters. Account numbers must be unique and cannot be duplicated. In the Account tab, only posting accounts are allowed. They must be greater than two characters. Use the Report tab to create Statement of Cash Flow or control accounts.

Type an account description that will display on the trial balance, general ledger, draft financial statements and all working paper documents.

Type or select the applicable map number for the account. Entering map numbers automatically completes account properties according to the characteristics assigned to the map number. This may be changed as necessary. To perform account mapping of the chart of accounts, refer to Assign Mapping Numbers.

Select the area (Balance Sheet, Income Statement or Statement of Cash Flow) of the draft financial statements the account is applicable.

Note: This option is unavailable if you are modifying Balance Sheet or Income Statement accounts. Statement of Cash Flow accounts must be created in the Report setup and can be modified in either the Report setup or the Cash Flow setup.

If applicable, the normal sign represents the nature of the sign of how the account should be displayed. Select Credit if the account is normally a credit balance or select Debit if the account is normally a debit balance. Depending on the account balance, the amount will be displayed or printed with brackets.

Type or select a leadsheet number to have this account appear on the selected leadsheet. To assign group numbers to the chart of accounts, refer to Assigning Accounts to Leadsheets.

If applicable, type or select the appropriate ratio class. The ratio class is used for calculating financial ratios, conducting analytical review, and preparing the schedule of unadjusted errors.

Select to link a tax export code to the account or view the tax export code already linked to the account.

M3 Code

In a U.S tax jurisdiction file, this field is available. Select to link an M3 code to the account or view the M3 code already linked to the account.

Note: Any account amounts in the Trial Balance that are assigned M3 Codes can be exported to tax software, except for CCH ProSystem fx.
