Annotation Group

The Annotation section of the Home tab of the ribbon provides an easy way to view all notes, create global annotations, and insert notes, tickmarks, document references, manual references, and line annotations.

This section is displayed when you open a document in Working Papers.

Annotation Commands

Icon Command Description
Global Annotation

Enables/disables global annotations.

With Global Annotations enabled, all new annotations will be global annotations.

Note: Creating an annotation as a global annotation enables Global Annotation.

Annotate Line

Opens the Line Annotation dialog to create a new annotation for the current line or column of the active document.

Annotate Total

Opens the Total Annotation dialog to create a new annotation for the Total line of the active document.

New Note

Opens the New Note dialog to create a new note attached to the selected account. Click the drop-down menu to attach a new note without using the New Note dialog.

New Tickmark

Opens the New Tickmark dialog to attach a new tickmark to the selected account. Click the drop-down menu to attach a new tickmark without using the New Tickmark dialog.

New Document Reference

Opens the New Reference dialog to add a new document reference to the selected account. Click the drop-down menu to add a new document reference without using the New Reference dialog.

New Manual Reference

Opens the New Manual Reference dialog to add a new reference to the selected account. Click the drop-down menu to add a new reference without using the New Manual Reference dialog.

New Hyperlink Reference

Opens the Hyperlink Reference dialog to add a new reference to the selected account. Click the drop-down menu to add a new reference without using the Hyperlink Reference dialog.

Highlighter

Changes the cursor to the highlighter cursor. Use the cursor to highlight areas of the document, and add notes to these areas. These notes are displayed when users move their cursor over the highlighted areas.

Note: Highlighter annotation is only available in PDF documents.

New Line Issue

Opens the New Issue dialog to create a new issue for the current line. Click the drop-down menu to list current issues.

Tickmarks

Adds the tickmark to the current document.

Notes

  • Annotations can be inserted for multiple lines in the working trial balance. Highlight the accounts and click on the appropriate annotation.
  • You can also drag and drop tickmarks from the Annotation toolbar directly into scanned images or automatic documents.
