About The Equation Bar
The Equation bar is at the top of every document and is used to enter or edit cell calculations. It can also be used to renumber a CaseView cell quickly. In addition the Equation bar can also be used to enter or edit paragraph, row or column skip conditions. Contents of the Equation bar can be copied to cells or paragraphs throughout the document.

The Equation bar has four components, the condition popup, cell label, equals sign, and the contents of the cell itself.
Calculation/ condition popup list
Click and select the appropriate condition from the list. Available conditions are:

Cell label
This part displays the cell number for the active cell, in this case C2. To renumber a cell on the fly, type the new cell number here.
Equal Sign Icon (=)
Click on the equal sign to pop up the calculation editor to add or edit calculations for the active cell.
Cell Contents
This bar displays the contents of the cell, in this case "Current Assets". If there is a cell calculation, the full syntax appears here. Click anywhere in this area to edit the cell contents. With the cursor in a cell, press F2 to quickly access the Equation bar and type or modify the cell calculation.
Notes
- In Form Mode with editing enabled, the Equation bar has two primary modes, one for editing cells and one for editing paragraphs. Changing the mode while on a cell, or on a paragraph will set up a new primary mode. The primary mode changes automatically when switching between cells and paragraphs. The mode button becomes disabled when on a cell or paragraph where editing of calculations/ skips is not allowed.
- In addition, when switching between modes and dealing with cells, the Equation bar's function changes based on the mode that was last accessed. When coming from Form Mode, the default function for the equation bar is set to Input, treating anything typed as an override to the cell. When coming from Design Mode, the default function is set to Calculation, treating any input as a change in the calculation.
- Copying a cell calculation by selecting the cell or the text in the equation bar and then pasting to the cell or equation bar re-references cell references by shifting them the same shift as the difference between the source and destination cells. This works for cell calculations being copied between non-table cells or between table cells with the same table label.
