Data tab - Graph Properties dialog

Data

Build the graph by populating the Data Series table manually or with cells from the Cells Available area.

Cells Available

Lists all cells and their values from the current document.

Select a cell and click on the right arrow to link the cell to a selected square in the Data Series table. Alternatively, you can drag and drop a cell to a square in the Data Series table. Select multiple cells, using Shift+Click or Ctrl+Click, to populate the same vertical number of squares in the Data Series table.

Select All

To select all cells for use in the graph, click Select All.

Clear All

To remove selected cells from selection, click Clear All.

Data Series

Populates the graph with data. Each column represents a data series and each row represents an x-axis category. For example, a bar chart could use revenues as a data series and several periods as x-axis categories. Pie graphs only require one data series.

All squares in the Data Series table behave similarly to CaseView cell calculations. The squares can use CaseView cell functions, refer to CaseView cells and contain Text, which must be placed in quotes. The data points (white squares) should only contain numeric values. The x-axis labels and series names (orange squares) can be numeric or alphanumeric. A graph can contain up to 100 x-axis categories with each label containing a maximum length of 64 characters each.

To enter a cell value in a Data Series table square, select the CaseView cell under Cells Available, click on the appropriate square in the data series table, and then click the right arrow. To manually enter a calculation or value, select the applicable square and enter the equation.

To link more than one cell per square, enter the appropriate formula for the selection in the data series box (e.g. C1+C2).

Change column width

In the first row, move the mouse cursor to the line between columns. When the cursor changes, click and drag as required. The column widths will revert back to their original size the next time the dialog is accessed.

Skip column and row

Enter a condition where if true, the row or column will not display. For example, where a pie graph has a data point of C1, entering C1=0 in the same row under the Skip column, causes the data point to not display.

Insert Series

Creates a new data series column to the left of the cursor. The series name defaults as Series, but will appear in the graph as a blank.

Insert Point

Adds a new x-axis category row above the cursor. The x-axis label defaults as Label, but will appear in the graph as the row number.

Clear

To clear the contents of a square, select the square(s) in the Data Series table, click Clear and then select Yes in the Delete Data Point dialog.

Remove

To delete a data series column or x-axis label row, select the series name or x-axis label (orange square) to highlight the column or row in the Data Series table, click Remove and the select Yes in the Delete Data Point dialog.
