About Form Mode

There are two modes in CaseView; the Design Mode and the Form Mode. When a CaseView document is first opened, Form mode is automatically active. If the document has been designed correctly (in the Design Mode), the functions available in the Form Mode should be all that are necessary to complete any client specific information. To enable a clear explanation of the two functions, we will call the person using the Design Mode the Designer and the person using the Form Mode the User.

The preparation of the document occurs in the Design Mode. The Designer determines what parts of the document can be modified by the User in the Form Mode. If designed correctly, the User needs very limited knowledge of CaseView’s intricacies in order to complete the document.

There are several areas the Designer should consider when preparing the document for use in the Form Mode. As the Designer, it is possible to provide access to cell data and formatting in the Form Mode. Input cells allow Users in the Form Mode to "plug" figures into financial statements manually or to enter completion information into designed forms. Use cell groups to permit Users to determine the size and appearance of cells in the document and to control the positioning of columns of text or cells in the document.

Selected paragraphs may be modified by users in the Form Mode. Expanding input paragraphs allow the User to enter an unlimited amount of completion information into a form or even the financial statement notes. Paragraphs can be rearranged in virtually any order using sorting parameters set up in the Design Mode.

All areas requiring input by the User are color coded for ease of identification. In addition, multiple facets of a CaseView document can be designed for completion at the click of a button.

In the Form Mode, enter data into input cells or paragraphs and print the document. The Form Mode is designed specifically for Users of the software who are providing completion information to a document.

The following functions can be performed in the Form Mode. Some of these functions are only available if the Designer has given access to them.

  • The Style window shows an overview of areas where permissions have been given to the user. A red line in the style window indicates an input cell or paragraph. A thicker blue line indicates that at least partial permissions have been given for the section and some operations are allowed in Form Mode with Enable Editing turned on (if applicable).
