Inserting a Picture

CaseView can display graphics or pictures in a document. Before a picture can be imported it must be saved in an uncompressed format as CaseView does not recognize compressed format graphics. Additionally, to ensure a crisp rather than grainy picture when printing, the pictures should be saved with a printer resolution of 300 or 600 dpi (dots per inch) or higher.

  1. Position the insertion point where you want to insert the picture.
  2. On the Insert tab, click Picture.

  3. In the File name box, type the path and name of the picture you want to insert. Click Browse to locate the file manually. Click to enter the path name as a calculation, for example, the calculations prgdir()+"filename.bmp" or clntdir() + "filename.bmp".
  4. To embed the picture as part of the CaseView document, select Embed picture in document. To link to the picture based on the Filename you enter, clear this option. If selecting the latter option, each time you move the CaseView files, you must copy the graphic file to a location where CaseView can find it.
  5. To enlarge or reduce the size of the picture, click Resize Picture and then type or select the dimensions of the picture. To restore the original dimensions, clear the check box.
  6. Select Show Picture while Viewing Document to show the picture in the document. If a document contains many shown graphics, it may scroll more slowly. If unselected, the picture appears as a rectangular placeholder with its name in the top left-hand corner. It will show in print preview.
  7. Select Allow User to Modify Picture if you want the User to be able to edit the picture while in Form Mode.
  8. Click OK.

Notes

  • Edit a picture quickly by double-clicking.
  • This operation is only available in Design Mode, however, the Allow User to Modify Picture permission enables users to edit pictures in Form Mode by double-clicking pictures.
