Creating a Form Cell Data CaseView database

  1. Either create a new cell, or double-click on an existing cell to open the Edit Cell dialog.
  2. In the General tab, check the External data option. The External Data and the Copy Template tabs are added to the Cell Edit dialog. Click the External Data tab.
  3. From data type, select Form Cell Data.
  4. To create a Group, do one of the following:
    • To create a group that is treated as static text, enter the group name in the Group field.
    • To add standard CaseView calculations to the Group field, select the Interpret as Calculation check box (this setting will affect the Group, Form, and Identifier fields). You can then type the calculation in the field or select the images\extdesc_shg.gif button to open the Calculation Editor. See the description of this feature in External Data options for an example.
  5. To create a Form, do one of the following:
    • To create a form that is treated as static text, in the Form field, enter the name of the form to be created.
    • Again, type the calculation in the field or select the images\extdesc_shg.gif button.
  6. To create an Identifier, do one of the following:
    • To add the Identifier as static text, enter a unique Identifier for the piece of data to be stored in the database in the Identifier box. The Identifier can be up to 21 characters long. If the Identifier already exists in the database, it displays as red text. Type another Identifier for this data.
    • Again, type the calculation in the field or select the images\extdesc_shg.gif button.
  7. Click the Copy Template tab. Select the action to be performed on this record during a Copy Template function.
  8. Click OK to apply.
