Comparing Sections Using Visual Compare
- On the Document tab, click Compare and select the appropriate comparison.
- Select the label for the first section you want to compare and click Visual Compare. The Visual Compare/Merge dialog will appear in order to compare the sections in depth.
- The top pane displays the updated content of the section. In the bottom pane, the original content of the section displays in a read-only format. The changes that have been made to the content are highlighted in color so you can do an in-depth comparison on each listed section.
- Select or deselect the check boxes beside Show differences in to include or ignore changes in paragraphs, cells and/or tables.
- If desired, disable shading for specific cells or paragraphs by clicking the Details button and making the appropriate selection in the Visual Compare/Merge Detailed Differences dialog.
- If applicable click Properties to access property dialogs, including the Cell Properties and Paragraph Properties dialogs, to review settings that apply to this content, though these properties cannot be modified.
- To retain any content you do not want discarded, copy and paste from the previous content back into the document.
- Use the Previous and Next buttons to navigate through each revision in the section and decide whether to keep the change or to paste back the original text.
- When the comparison is complete, click Close.
Notes
- When comparing in the Form Mode the hidden paragraphs will not be considered when determining whether two sections or documents are different.
