Preferences Command
Use this command to specify default preferences for viewing a CaseView document. Preferences selected here only apply to the current document and mode.
In the title bar of the Display Preferences dialog, CaseView displays the type of defaults currently being used by the document. CaseView documents either use document defaults or application defaults.
Clicking Use Defaults or Save as Defaults changes the title bar to Display Preferences (Using Application Defaults). If any changes are made to these preferences, the title bar changes to Display Preferences (Using Document Defaults).
Paragraphs
Select the display preferences that affect the paragraphs in the document.
Display tabs
Displays tab characters to indicate a tab or a tab stop marker.
Display markers
Displays paragraph markers to indicate a paragraph line break and soft return markers to indicate a non-paragraph line break.
Highlight skipped paragraphs
Displays skipped text in another color to distinguish it from printing text. You can change the color of the skip text under Colors.
Note: If you are marking button text with this option, select a color other than the button color so that the text can still be seen when skipped.
Mark skipped in Style window
Displays markers in the style window to indicate lines that meet the skipping criteria.
Use input paragraph color in enable editing
Displays shading in the input paragraph in enable editing mode. See Adding shading to input paragraphs in enable editing mode for additional information.
Hide empty note number references
Hides note number references that do not link to a note.
Hide skipped non-modifiable note numbers
Hides note numbers that are non-modifiable due to permissions. Skipped note numbers that can be modified will be displayed regardless if this is selected. By default, skipped note numbers are visible in Form Mode.
Note: This option is only available in Form Mode with Enable Editing.
Hide modified paragraph indicator
Hides the red line that appears on the left side of input paragraphs in Form mode. The red line indicates paragraphs with content that originated in a Knowledge Library and that have been modified. Paragraphs marked with a red line can be reverted to their original form using the Restore Paragraph from Knowledge Library option in Form mode's right-click menu.
Note: This option is only available in Form Mode.
Tables
Select the display preferences that affect the tables in the document.
Display grid lines
Displays grid lines within the table.
Interface
Select the display preferences that affect the interfaces in the document.
Show style window
Displays the style window. The style windows appears at the left side of the document window. Use the style window to view the style names and skipping criteria applied to paragraphs.
Show ruler
Displays the top ruler for the document in design and custom mode.
Cells
Select the display preferences that affect the cells in the document.
Display borders
Outlines cells in the document with a frame. Use this option to distinguish normal text from cells in the document.
Note: Cell borders do not print when the document is printed.
View rounding flags
Displays flags to indicate the cells that have been rounded in Form Mode (with or without editing enabled) as well as in Design Mode.
Display Information
Select the cell properties to display.

Sum group | Display sum group above the top right corner of the cell. Use this option to quickly view all cells accumulated into a sum group total cell. |
In cells | Display cell numbers or sum group left aligned inside the cells as opposed to outside of them. To view cell numbers or the sum group inside the cells, select In cells and Number or Sum group. |
Sections
Select the display preferences that affect the sections in the document.
Display boxes
Displays whatever preferences have been set in the Boxes tab of the Section dialog. When not selected, these boxes display only in print preview or when printing.
Colors
Select the display preferences that affect the colors in the document.
Input cell
Select one of 20 predefined colors for all input cells or click Other to customize a color selection.
Input paragraph
Select one of 20 predefined colors for all input paragraphs or click Other to customize a color selection.
Skipped text
Select one of 20 predefined colors for all skipped text or click Other to customize a color selection.
Missing annotation reference
Select one of 20 predefined colors for all missing annotation references or click Other to customize a color selection.
Use Defaults
Loads the application defaults from the system registry.
Save as Defaults
Saves the settings as the new application defaults.
