Renumbering Multiple Cells

CaseView supports the ability to renumber cells arbitrarily within table squares. However, if the table is sorted or a new row is inserted, users could still require the ability to renumber these renamed cells automatically.

  1. Select the column(s) of cells by holding Alt and dragging over the cells. To add additional cells outside of the block, click on the individual cells while holding Ctrl. The cell color changes to show that they have been selected.

  2. Right-click any of the cells and select Renumber Cell.
  3. Under Renumbering Method, choose one of the following:

    • Reincrement - The reincrement option permits you to redefine the starting cell number in the block using any cell number you want. Enter a unique starting number, in the Starting Cell Number box. A reincrement value may also be entered in the Increment between cells box whereby the difference between each cell is determined by a set amount.
    • Constant Shift - The constant shift option permits you to apply a constant shift to the selected cell numbers. A constant shift determines that the cell numbers are increased or decreased from their original amount by the value specified in the Amount box.
    • Modify Prefix - The modify prefix option permits you to change all the prefixes (beginnings) of the selected cells all at once. Note that since cell numbers can be at most 10 characters long, ensure that the new prefix does not make the cell length exceed this limit.
    • Modify Suffix - The modify suffix option permits you to change all the suffixes (endings) of the selected cells all at once. Note that since cell numbers can be at most 10 characters long, ensure that the new prefix does not make the cell length exceed this limit.
  4. Configure any remaining options as needed.

  5. Click OK.

Notes

  • Use the look up button in the Starting Cell Number box to view all existing cell numbers in the document.
  • Renumbering updates cell numbers in rounding relations as well as calculations.
