Work in Form Mode

When you open a CaseView document or template for the first time, it opens in Form Mode. Form Mode is how most users will see a document and it is typically all that is required for users to complete any necessary client information.

Note: A document designer should first design the document in Design Mode before users access it in Form Mode.

To access Form Mode:

  • On the ribbon, click View | Form Mode.
  • On the ribbon, click Home | Editing | Form Mode.

The following functions are available when working in Form Mode. Some functions may be restricted by the document designer and require additional permissions. Advanced functions granted by permissions can be accessed when working in Form Mode with editing enabled.

  • Change color settings
  • View skipped text
  • Enter text, account descriptions and balances
  • Remove input from a cell, all cells in a document, or all cells in a file
  • Remove the red underline from changed values
  • Modify user-defined information
  • Cut, copy and paste
  • Find (CTRL + F)
  • Jump (CTRL + G)
  • Edit cell properties
  • Move columns
  • Make columns display only
  • Sort text, cells and tables
  • Spell check
  • Recalculate all calculations
  • Apply rounding
  • Apply rounding relations
  • Perform disagnostics
  • Save the document
  • Export the document
  • Print and print preview the document
  • Lock Form Mode

Lock Form Mode

After entering all the necessary client information, you may want to lock Form Mode to prevent any further changes to the document. To lock Form Mode in a document, you'll require the relevant permissions from the document designer.

To lock Form Mode:

  1. Ensure you are working in Form Mode.
  2. On the ribbon, click Document | Lock | Form Mode.
  3. Enter a password to use for unlocking Form Mode. Click OK.

Form Mode is locked in the document. To unlock Form Mode, simply click Document | Lock | Form Mode again and enter the password.

Form Mode with editing enabled

Form Mode with editing enabled allows users to view and edit a document similar to standard Form Mode, but with access to advanced functions granted by the document designer.

Note: Designers can set the access level requirements for Form Mode with editing enabled from Document | Settings | Mode Customization.

To access Form Mode with editing enabled:

  • On the ribbon, click View | Enable Editing.
  • On the ribbon, click Home | Editing | Enable Editing.

When working in Form Mode with editing enabled, you can determine which advanced permissions you have access to by hovering your cursor over the padlock icon on the status bar. If the text "LOCKED" displays next to the icon, you are not permitted access to Form Mode with editing enabled.
