About Basic Cell Options

Cells can be both calculated and input. An input cell allows the user in the Form Mode to enter numbers or text into a cell. When creating a check box or radio button, the cell is set to be an input cell by default. If desired, the designer can choose to have input cells display in a specific color in Form mode by, on the View tab, clicking Preferences and then picking a color for the input cells.

Calculated cells are cell values that are entered in the Design Mode. A calculated value is any expression. If the calculation entered is incorrect, an error message will appear. At this point, re-enter the formula, confirm it is semantically correct and try again. Please refer to the Cell Functions Index for a complete listing of available calculations. To enter or edit a cell calculation quickly, click in the Equation bar for the active cell, then type or modify the calculation syntax. Text in calculated cells must be placed in quotations.

When a cell is both calculated and input, any value entered by the User overrides the calculated value. A red dot appears to the right of all overridden cells in the Form Mode. CaseView provides a remove override feature to enable the calculated value to return to the cell.
