Recalculate linkages
After making changes to your Working Papers file, Caseware recommends you recalculate your Word and Excel documents to retrieve the latest values from your Working Papers database. You can instantly recalculate all Connector linkages in your Word or Excel documents, simultaneously.
To perform a recalculation:
- Open a Word or Excel document that contains Connector linkages.
- On the Add-ins tab, in the Connector group, click Tools | Recalculate.
Your Connector linkages have been recalculated to reflect the latest values in your Working Papers file. Ensure you save your document after verifying your changes.
Note: In Excel, you can also recalculate linkages using the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+F9.
Disable automatic recalculation
Automatic recalculation can occur when opening a Word or Excel document. If you want to retain linkage values from the last saved recalculation, you can disable automatic recalculation. Disabling automatic recalculation allows users who don't have Connector or Working Papers installed to view the last saved values in your Word and Excel documents.
To disable automatic recalculation in Word:
- On the Add-ins tab, in the Connector group, click Tools | Options.
- Deselect Calculate when opening a Word file. Click OK.
You have disabled automatic recalculation when opening a Word document. Ensure you save your document after verifying your changes.
To disable automatic recalculation in Excel:
- On the Excel ribbon, click Formulas | Calculation Options | Manual.
You have disabled automatic recalculation in Excel. Ensure you save your document after verifying your changes.
Note: When automatic recalculation is set to Manual in Excel, the Connector Recalculate function is disabled for DDE linkages only.
