Optimiser

The Optimiser feature enables the Engagement team to enhance or customize the template program by removing:

  • Unnecessary documents,
  • Risks that are not applicable for the client,
  • Work program procedures that do not meet the assessed level of risk for the financial statement area, and
  • Procedures from checklists or work programs based on checklist responses.

The table below lists the capabilities that you, as the Firm Author, can include in the Optimiser. Each option can be selected or unselected as needed.

Option Description
Financial statement areas worksheet (FSA)
Delete documents based on materiality in the FSA

This option deletes documents if the financial statement area is not material (as determined in the materiality assessment) in the FSA worksheet. Only documents associated in the Working Papers reference (W/P ref. column) are affected.

Optimiser includes all documents suggested for deletion in the Audit Optimiser Confirmation Report.

Delete procedures based on risk thresholds in the FSA

This option deletes procedures if the assigned risk threshold is higher than the determined risk for the financial statement area in the FSA worksheet.

When selecting this option, procedures are also deleted if their assertions are not included in the list defined in the FSA worksheet.

Documents must be associated to the financial statement area in the W/P ref. column of the FSA worksheet.

Delete procedures based on audit responses in the FSA

This option deletes groups of procedures by assertion based on the audit response. Rather than manually deleting individual procedures, use this option to automate the process.

Optimiser Checklist
Delete documents based on checklist responses This option deletes documents by document tags based on the checklist response. You must enable document deletion in procedure actions and then proceed to define an action for deleting documents with or without specific tags. The action is triggered when your checklist response matches the recommended action.
Delete procedures based on checklist responses

This option deletes procedures by procedure tags based on the checklist response. You must enable procedure tagging in documents and procedure deletion in procedure actions, and then proceed to define an action for deleting procedures with or without specific procedure tags. The action is triggered when your checklist response matches the recommended action.

Delete risks based on checklist responses This option deletes risks and controls in the master template based on the checklist response. You must enable risk and control deletion in procedure actions, and then proceed to define an action for deleting specific risk and controls in the master template. This action is triggered when your checklist response matches the recommended action.
Other
Insert procedures linked to a risk

This option inserts procedures into documents based on risk. You must link the procedure to a risk. This action is triggered when you open a document linked to that risk (the procedure is then automatically inserted)

Note: This option is only available when Risks is enabled in AO | General Options.

Delete industry specific documents This option deletes all documents that are not related to the industries specified in the client file.
Delete unassociated controls This option deletes all controls that are not associated with any of the defined risks

Note: When procedure actions are defined in a checklist, the icon displays at the top left of the document and Optimiser will not delete any tagged procedures.
