Options

You can set the default preferences for CaseView in the Options dialog. To access the Options dialog, on the ribbon, click Tools | Options.

Auto save

Autosave protects your documents by periodically saving any changes in a backup copy with the extension .cv$. You can open this copy of the document after CaseView has shut down unexpectedly

Option Description
Enable autosave

Turns on the automatic save feature.

Note: Autosave copies do not automatically synchronize with other sync copies. To update all sync copies with the content of an autosave, you must recover the document using the autosave copy, then manually save the document.

Save every

Indicates the time period between each automatic save.

  • Hrs.: Enter or increment the number of hours between each automatic save.
  • Min.: Enter or increment the number of minutes between each automatic save.

Spell checking

Set the default preferences for spell checking a document.

Option Description
Language

Select the primary language to use during a spell check.

Custom Dictionary

Store custom words that are not in the default dictionary. For more information on creating a custom dictionary, see Spelling and dictionaries.

Words with numbers

During a spell check, ignore words that contain numbers.

Words in UPPERCASE

During a spell check, ignore words in uppercase letters.

Automatically Suggest

During a spell check, show suggested spellings for misspelled words.

Only check paragraphs that are not skipped

During a spell check, ignore paragraphs that are set to skip when printing.

Measurements

Set the default measurement unit for use in CaseView.

Option Description
Measurement Units

Select the default measurement unit for dialog boxes, cells, and the ruler.

Note: Different users can access a CaseView document with different measurement settings. The conversion is handled automatically, but discrepancies may occur. If possible, we recommend that all users select the same measurement unit.

Interface

Set miscellaneous interface preferences.

Option Description
Bypass the Print dialog when using Quick Print Print the document using the default print options, without displaying the Print dialog.
Always use the default printer

Always print documents using your computer's default printer, rather than the last printer used.

Enable Multiple Document Windows

Allow each opened CaseView document to display in a separate window.
Show document tabs

Display document tabs on the bottom of the CaseView window to help manage multiple open documents.

Show tooltips as bubbles Display the standard tooltips used for cells and hyperlinks as bubbles rather than boxes.
Show page breaks generated by Background Pagination

Display 'soft' page breaks created through background pagination. Background pagination occurs after most editing functions, such as entering, moving, or deleting content. These differ from manually inserted 'hard' page breaks which remain statically in place regardless of what contents may be changed in the document.
