Custom Balances

Custom balances can be created in the Working Trial Balance to accommodate a wide variety of business needs, such as including amended budgets. Custom balances are very flexible and can accommodate up to 5 years of data.

Custom balance can represent balances in the past (for example, a budget balance), or balances in the future (for example, a forecast balance).

Working Papers provide the following features with respect to working with custom balances:

  • Include/exclude custom balances when consolidating files.
  • Ability to rollforward custom balances when performing a year end close.
  • During a copy components operation, when copying some components and trial balance data, all custom balance identifiers are copied along with the trial balance data. You can choose to copy only the custom balance identifiers and they are merged into the destination file.
  • You can enter custom balance foreign exchange rates in the Foreign Exchange tab of the Working Trial Balance.
  • You can compare custom balances against the current active balance for trial balance, leadsheet, and analytical review automatic documents. See Showing comparative balances on documents for instructions on doing this.
