Locking Down a Client File After The Completion Date

Engagement files can be locked down a specific number of days after the financial statements are issued. You can wait until that time and then lock down a file immediately, or you can set the lockdown to occur automatically based on the report release date. Regardless of the time of the lockdown, a milestone will be created once the lockdown occurs. This milestone will remain in your client file and cannot be deleted.

Files set for lockdown that have passed the lockdown date will lock down the next time the file is accessed. In this case, the Engagement Lockdown Wizard opens automatically. You cannot exit or cancel the wizard or make any changes.

Note: After a file has passed the document completion date and lockdown occurs, the file cannot be unlocked until all files checked out before lockdown occurred have been checked in.

  • The client file must be set for lock down after a completion date that has already been met
  1. Open the Working Papers client file to be locked down.

    The Engagement Lock Down Wizard opens automatically.

  2. Click Next on the Welcome page to access the Lockdown Considerations.

  3. Select the items you wish to complete before Lockdown occurs, then click Next.

    The Engagement Lockdown Wizard Complete page opens.

  4. Click Finish.

The client file will be locked and most of the documents within will be set to read only.
