Repairing Corrupt Sync Events

Repair corrupt sync events by promoting the synchronized copy where the corrupt sync event took place.

Important: Attempt a SmartSync Repair before promoting a synchronized copy.

Before continuing with this procedure you should first attempt a SmartSync Repair.

  1. Go online with all synchronized copies to update the parent file.
  2. Stop work on all synchronized copies.
  3. In the top-level parent, ensure all data is synchronized.
  4. Ensure there are no missing sync events.
  5. On the SmartSync tab, select Delete Copy to delete all sync copies.
  6. Resolve any outstanding conflicts in the top-level parent.
  7. Verify that each external document or CaseView document displays the correct version.
  8. In the top-level parent, on the SmartSync tab, select Clear Synchronization Information.

Note: If the menu item is disabled, go to the Synchronization Properties dialog.

The sync copy has now been successfully promoted as the new parent file. Create new synchronized copies from the new parent as necessary to continue working.

  • If multiple sync copies have corrupt events, manually reconcile any differences to the top-level parent file.
  • If the top-level parent cannot be used, select the file with the corrupt sync events to perform the above steps. Once all versions are verified (Step 7), close the file and delete the _Sync folder, then place the sync copy on the network to replace old top-level parent file.
