When creating or updating a template, you can apply version numbers to the various components and documents that make up your template file. Use version numbers to identify which files based on the template need updating and allow users to quickly verify whether their files are up-to-date.
- Component version numbers help you track changes to grouping, mapping, and document structures.
Document version numbers help you track changes to each specific document.
Note: You can easily view the version of a document in the current file and the version from the master template side-by-side from the Versions column in the Document Manager. Use this comparison to determine if a document should be updated.
To modify version information in a template file:
- Open the template you want to modify.
- Customize your components and documents as required for the template update.
- On the ribbon, click Tools | Template Versions.
On the General tab, increment the version numbers as required.
