Docking frames
When you open the Trial Balance, automatic documents, journal entries, or views in Working Papers, the window fills the remaining space in the interface. To optimize your work flow, you can switch these windows to docking frames so that you can reposition them to convenient locations. To switch a window to a docking frame, on the ribbon, click View | Docking View, or press ALT+F6 on your keyboard.
When a window is in Docking View, you can customize its positioning by clicking the Window Position menu at the top of the frame.
Option | Description |
---|---|
Floating | Open the frame in a floating window. You can move the window outside the Working Papers interface, or dock it in a new position within the interface. |
Docking | Dock the frame to the interface. The docking position is automatically assigned. |
Hide | Hide the frame from view. To restore a hidden frame, open the automatic document or feature again. |
Custom layout
After you've positioned the docking frames to suit your requirements, you can save their positioning as a custom layout. Saving a custom layout sets it as your default layout for the interface.
To create a custom layout:
- Open the automatic documents and features that you want to dock.
- On the ribbon, click View | Docking View.
- Arrange the frames as required.
- On the View tab, click Save Layout..
The custom layout is saved as the default layout for the file.
Note: If you dock a frame containing a Microsoft Word or Excel document, you must close the frame prior to closing and compressing the file.
