External links warning from Word or Excel

A warning message may display when opening a Word or Excel file containing Connector links. This message is enabled by Windows security settings in Office and can be disabled by making a minor change in the Windows Registry Editor.

Note: Making changes in the Registry Editor could disable Connector or your computer.

To disable the warning message:

  1. From the Windows Start menu, click Run, or open the Cortana/Search menu.
  2. Type REGEDIT and run the command. The Registry Editor displays.
  3. In the left pane of the Registry Editor, navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\XX.0(Office version number)\Common\
  4. Right-click on Common and click New | Key.
  5. Rename the new key Security.
  6. In the Security key, right-click on the right-hand pane of the Registry Editor and click New | DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  7. Rename the new value DisableHyperlinkWarning.
  8. Double-click on DisableHyperlinkWarning. The Edit DWORD Value dialog opens.
  9. In the Value data field, change the number from 0 to 1. Click OK.
  10. Close the Registry Editor.

To test whether the messages have been disabled, close all Microsoft Office products and open the connected document again.
