Connecting to Working Papers

Connector linkages can be generic in nature. Formulas may not refer to a specific client file which allows the linkages to retrieve data from potentially any Working Papers client file.
Linkage Protocols: DDE to UDF Link Conversion

The User Defined Functions (UDF) protocol is the latest method of linking Microsoft Office documents with the Working Papers database. UDF offers enhanced functionality over its predecessor, the Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) protocol.
Link Conversion for Third-Party Documents

Convert links from third-party applications to Connector links that are compatible with Working Papers. A conversion tool is available from Connector for replacing existing link formulas with their corresponding equivalents in Connector.
About Protected Workbooks, Worksheets, and Cells

When a worksheet is protected, all of its cells are locked by default. As a result, some features in Connector are disabled when a workbook or worksheet is protected.

Connector Toolbar

The Connector toolbar consists of shortcut buttons and the Connector Tools menu.
Connector Context (right-click) Menu

The context (right-click) menu in Word and Excel has an additional Connector menu. These menu options are provided in addition to the Connector toolbar and Tools menu.

Options dialog

The Options dialog enables you to specify program settings when using Connector with Word and Excel.
Tools Menu

The Tools menu provides you with additional Connector options and commands.
Link Paths Dialog

Formulas in Word or Excel documents can be linked to several different Working Papers client files. The Link Paths dialog can be used to check existing links and to reassign links from one file to another.
Converting DDE Links to UDF in Batch

You can convert multiple Excel document's DDE-based links to UDF. This is useful for converting multiple documents at once rather than opening and converting each individually.
Selecting a Linkage Protocol

Connector in Microsoft Excel provides the ability to use either Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) or User Defined Functions (UDF) as the data transfer protocol between Microsoft Office and CaseWare Working Papers.
Rounding Option [DDE Only]

The Rounding Option dialog enables you to specify program settings for expressing numeric values for DDE-based linkages.
