Specifying Settings for Assertions

Specify firm settings for Assertions from AO - General options | Assertions.

Option Description

Number of Combined Assertions

Select up to five built-in Audit assertions and add up to ten custom assertions in the work programs. Default is four assertions. If you select more than five assertions, fields will appear in the table that will enable you to specify the additional assertion names and abbreviations. You can also modify the name and abbreviation for any pre-defined assertion.

Terminology

You can customize the standard terminology and abbreviation to use for risks and assertions.

Pervasive Risks

  • Firm Standard: Enter the standard terminology for Pervasive Risks. Select Other to define a custom term.
  • Abbr.: Enter an abbreviation of the standard terminology. Select Other to define a custom term. Abbreviations can contain 2-4 characters.

Combined assertions

Click the Associate base assertions icon to define how base assertions are combined. For more information, see Assertions.

  • Firm Standard: Enter the standard terminology for Combined assertions. Select Other to define a custom term.
  • Abbr.: Enter an abbreviation of the standard terminology. Select Other to define a custom term. Abbreviations can contain between 2 and 4 characters.
  • Include: Select to include the combined assertion in your template. Deselected assertions are excluded.
