How do I display negative balances in parentheses, rather than a minus, in the Trial Balance?

Answer

You can modify how balances display in the Region settings of your workstation.

To display negative balances in parentheses:

1. Open the Windows Control Panel.
2. Click Clock and Region | Region.
3. In the Region dialog on the Formats tab, click Additional settings.
4. In the Customize Format dialog, click the Currency tab.
5. Click the Negative currency format drop-down menu and select ($1.1). Click OK, then OK. Close the Control Panel.

Negative balances will now display in parentheses.
