Working Papers 2022 cannot open Cloud engagement files
Published: October 31, 2024
Affected version(s): Working Papers 2022.00.179, 2022.00.179R2, 2022.00.201, 2022.00.201R2
Issue
Users who have integrated Working Papers 2022 with Caseware Cloud cannot open Cloud engagement files from the File | Open | Caseware Cloud menu. This issue is caused by a recent Microsoft Edge WebView2 update (130.0.2849.46).
Solution
We’ve developed an installer that performs the following actions:
-
Installs an older version of Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime within the Working Papers installation folder.
-
Updates the Working Papers configuration files to use this previous version.
Note: The installer does not remove the latest WebView2 Runtime version. It adds the previous version for exclusive use by Working Papers. Other applications that utilize Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime are not impacted by this change.
-
Adds the following line "UseEdgeBrowserFixedRuntime=1" to the CV.VER file.
To download the installer:
-
Log into MyCaseware.
-
From the main menu, select Support Files.
-
Expand the Working Papers category and locate the WPWebview2Update.exe file. Click Download.
To run the installer:
-
Close all instances of Working Papers and Caseview.
-
Run the installer (WPWebview2Update.exe) and accept the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.
-
Accept the Master Product & Services Agreement. Click Next.
-
Review the installation folder (default C:\Program Files (x86)\Caseware). The installer detects the latest version of Working Papers on the computer. If multiple versions are found, you'll have the option to change to the other version's folder. Click Next.
-
Wait for the installation to finish.
The installer can also be deployed through Device Management tools. For deployment instructions, see How do I perform a silent installation of the Working Papers Webview2 update?
