Renumbering Multiple Accounts

On the Account tab, in the Renumber group, click Renumber.
- In Method, select a type of method. Click the methods below to obtain more information:
- In Find What, type the item to be replaced.
- In Replace With, type the item you want to use as a replacement.
Note: To replace the Find What item with a blank, simply leave the Replace With field empty. For example, to find "Acc100" and "Acc200" and replace them with "100" and "200", type "Acc" in the Find What field and keep the Replace With field empty.
Tip: You can also renumber accounts by replacing the period in the account number with a space.
- In Data Range, select the range of accounts or a particular entity to which you want to apply the renumbering. To include all accounts and entities in the data range, leave the fields blank. To include all associated split-up accounts, select the Include splitups option.
- In Results, compare the old account numbers to the new account numbers to verify that the accounts are being renumbered as you intended.
- Click Renumber.
- In Prefix, type the prefix to use.
- In Data Range, select the range of accounts or a particular entity to which you want to apply the renumbering. To include all accounts and entities in the data range, leave the fields blank. To include all associated split-up accounts, select the Include splitups option.
- In Results, compare the old account numbers to the new account numbers to verify that the accounts are being renumbered as you intended.
- Click Renumber.
- In Suffix, type the suffix to use.
- In Data Range, select the range of accounts or a particular entity to which you want to apply the renumbering. To include all accounts and entities in the data range, leave the fields blank. To include all associated split-up accounts, select the Include splitups option.
- In Results, compare the old account numbers to the new account numbers to verify that the accounts are being renumbered as you intended.
- Click Renumber.
- In Amount, type the value by which to increase or decrease the account numbers. To decrease the account numbers, type a minus sign in front of the value.
- In Data Range, select the range of accounts or a particular entity to which you want to apply the renumbering. To include all accounts and entities in the data range, leave the fields blank. To include all associated split-up accounts, select the Include splitups option.
- In Results, compare the old account numbers to the new account numbers to verify that the accounts are being renumbered as you intended.
- Click Renumber.
- In Search Expression, type the expression to find an item you want to replace.
- In Replace Expression, type the expression to replace the item.
- In Data Range, select the range of accounts or a particular entity to which you want to apply the renumbering. To include all accounts and entities in the data range, leave the fields blank. To include all associated split-up accounts, select the Include splitups option.
- In Results, compare the old account numbers to the new account numbers to verify that the accounts are being renumbered as you intended.
- Click Renumber.
Result
The new account number automatically updates any journal entries and working paper documents.
