Deleting a Milestone

Delete older milestones for a document to reduce the size of your client file and save on disk space.

Note: Deleting a milestone is permanent; you cannot retrieve this milestone after performing this operation.

  • Ensure you are not in conflict with any firm policies when deleting a milestone.
  • If Protection is activated, you require the Documents right, Delete Milestones, to perform this operation.
  • For SmartSync users, ensure you are online and synchronizing with the parent file to make any changes available to other online users.

  1. From the Document Manager right-click on a document and select Properties to access the document properties dialog.
  2. Click the History tab and select the milestone from the list.
  3. (Optional) View additional details for this milestone by clicking Details.

  4. Click Delete Milestone.

The milestone entry is removed from the Document Properties and removed from the client file. If the document was particularly large, you will notice a marked drop in the size of your client file.

  • If saved milestones that were created before the file was checked out are deleted, these milestones will not be removed and will reappear when the file is checked in. To remove these milestones permanently, you must delete them when the file is checked in.
