Manage SmartSync Servers

You can use Tracker to manage Working Papers files stored on your SmartSync Servers.

To add a SmartSync Server to Tracker:

  1. On the menu, click Tools | Manage SmartSync Servers. The Manage SmartSync Servers dialog displays.
  2. On the Servers tab, click Click here to add a server.
  3. In the Server field, enter the IP address of your SmartSync Server. In the Label field, enter a name for the server. Click OK.
  4. If prompted, sign in with the server password. Click OK.

The SmartSync Server is added to Tracker. To view the files stored on the SmartSync Server, click Tools | Scan SmartSync Servers. Use the default SmartSync Server view to see the list of files, or create your own view.

Manage SmartSync Server Files

After scanning your SmartSync Server files into Tracker, you can access the following options:

Option Description
Create a Synchronized Copy Creates a local sync copy from the file.
Retrieve Extended File Information

Retrieves information from the file and updates the SmartSync Server copy.

Extended file information includes:

  • Engagement properties information
  • Lock-down status
  • User access settings
  • Version information
Convert Server Copy

Converts the server copy of the file to a newer version of Working Papers (if available). You must close all sync copies prior to conversion.

Repair Server Copy Perform a SmartSync Repair on the file to clear synchronization errors and missing or corrupt sync events.
Clear Synchronization Info Remove all synchronization data from the file. This reverts the file to a standard 'non-sync' file.
Abandon All Sync Copies Abandon synchronization between the parent file and all associated child copies (online and offline).
Abandon Specific Sync Copies Abandon synchronization between the parent file and the specified child copies.
Rename Server Copy Change the file name of a parent file stored on the SmartSync Server. All child copies of the file must be abandoned or deleted prior to renaming the file.
Compress Server Copy Compress a parent file stored on the SmartSync Server. All child copies of the file must be abandoned or deleted prior to compressing the file.
Delete Server Copy Delete the file from Tracker and the SmartSync Server.

View the synchronization status and existing child copies for a file.

Filter by

Filter the files displayed in Tracker.

  • Hidden: Display only files marked as hidden.
  • Visible: Display only files marked as visible.
  • All: Display all files.
Export to Excel Export the file to an Excel (.xls) document.

SmartSync Server Scan Options

When scanning a SmartSync Server for files, the results are based on a designated user and their access rights. Users must have access to a file for it to be added.

You can specify the user whose access you want to use from Tools | SmartSync Server Scan Options.

Option Description
Any User Scans for files that any user can access.
Current User Scans for files that the current user can access. The current user name is specified.
Specific User Scans for files that the specified user can access. Choose a user from the drop-down menu.
