About user identification

Each Working Papers user has a user ID to help identify them in the file. You can create your own user ID the first time you open a Working Papers file on your workstation, or on the ribbon, click Tools | Change Identity.

Option Description
User ID Enter or select a user ID. IDs can be up to 20 alphanumeric characters in length.
Full Name Enter a full name for use in identification.
Initials Enter three characters. These initials are used in role completion fields.
Manage Click to open the Manage Identities dialog, where you can create, edit, delete, and otherwise manage your user IDs.

Working Papers automatically fills in the user ID for all subsequent files that you work on, based on the information saved in your computer's registry. A list of users who have accessed a file is recorded in the file's history.

Notes:

  • You can verify your current user ID by clicking Tools | Protection | Who am I ?.
  • If you want to change the password of your current user ID, click Tools | Protection | Change Password. In the dialog, you must enter your old password before you can register a new password.
  • After enabling protection for a file, you can no longer create user IDs. All IDs with access to the file are managed through the Users and Groups dialog. See Manage users for more information.
