Type Letters for Quick Lookup

Use this dialog to locate an account number for posting or to create or modify an account for posting.

Click on a field in the screen shot below to view its description

Select

Access the account you are looking for in one of two ways:

Scroll to it and clicking the line; or
Click the column heading and then type the first few characters of the number or name you are searching for.

When you have selected the account, click the Select button to enter the account number into the adjusting journal entry screen you are editing.

New

Creates a new account number for posting.

Properties

Opens the Insert/Modify Account dialog to modify the account properties of an account.

A modified trial balance is listed. It can be displayed sorted by account number or account name. An up or down arrow icon will appear at the right end of the column head to indicate by which category and in which direction the table is sorted. To change the way the table is sorted, click the appropriate column head. Click again to change direction.

Account No

Represents the Account Number, which can be up to 40 digits and alphanumeric. Typing the first few numbers of an account moves the selection bar to the appropriate range of accounts.

Name

Represents the name of the account number. Typing the first few letters of an account description moves the selection bar to the appropriate range of accounts.

Preliminary

Represents the preliminary balance, which includes the opening balances and any bookkeeping entries.

Adjustments

Represents any adjusting journal entries posted to the account.

Final

Represents the final balance after all adjustments for the period have been calculated.
