Insert a picture
You can insert a picture into your document from your local workstation. To ensure the picture is high-quality when printing, we recommend that you insert uncompressed images with a printer resolution of at least 300-600 dpi (dots per inch).
To insert a picture into your document:
- Place your cursor where you want to insert the picture.
- On the ribbon, click Insert | Picture.
-
Complete one of the following steps to locate the picture:
- In the Filename field, enter the file path and name of the picture that you want to insert.
- Click Browse... to locate and select the file on your computer.
- Click ...to enter the file path and name as a calculation, for example, the calculations prgdir()+"filename.bmp" or clntdir() + "filename.bmp".
-
Complete any additional settings as required:
Option Description Embed picture in document Select to link the picture based on the file name you enter. If this is not selected, each time you move the CaseView file, you must copy the graphic file to a location where CaseView can find it. Resize Picture Select to enlarge or reduce the size of the picture and then type or select the dimensions of the picture. To restore the original dimensions, clear the check box. Keep Aspect Ratio Select to scale the Height and Width fields to the same aspect ratio of the original picture. You must select Resize Picture to enable this option. Show picture while viewing document Select to show the picture in the document. To improve performance, clear the selection so the picture displays as a placeholder. The picture will still display in the print preview. Allow user to modify picture while in Form Mode Select if you want to allow other users to edit the picture while in Form Mode. Click OK.
The picture displays in the document.
Note: You can copy and paste pictures as you would with text. Both embedded and referenced pictures can be copied and pasted from within the same document, from document to document, or from one document to another in a different instance of CaseView.
Edit an inserted picture
After you've inserted the picture into your document, you can change the properties of the picture as required.
To edit an inserted picture:
- Double-click the picture, or use the right-click context menu and select Properties. If Allow user to modify picture while in Form Mode is enabled, you can edit the picture in Form Mode through the right-click context menu.
-
In the Properties dialog, edit the picture as required. The options in this dialog are the same as the Picture Object dialog, with the following differences:
- If the picture is embedded and Embed picture in document is cleared, you have the option to save the existing picture.
- In Form Mode, you do not have access to change the Allow user to modify picture while in Form Mode option.
The edited picture displays in the document. You can now modify the source file and re-embed the picture elsewhere in the document.
