Copy Formatting command

The Copy Formatting command copies the attributes of a paragraph or cell (excluding paragraph logic conditions) to the Clipboard. You can Paste the copied attributes to different content to apply the same formatting.

  • Using Copy Formatting on paragraphs will copy the style, skip/hide conditions, borders, shading, tabs, and fonts to the target paragraph. Copied styles will retain their style names.
  • Using Copy Formatting on cells will copy any conditional formatting rules from those cells and apply them to the target cell as a new rule.

To copy the formatting of one paragraph or cell to another:

  1. Select the paragraph or cell where you want to copy the formatting.
  2. On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click Copy Formatting, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+C.
  3. Select the paragraph(s) or cell(s) where you want to replace the formatting.
  4. On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click Paste, or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+V.

The selected paragraph or cell's formatting is updated.
