Hyperlink command

Use the Hyperlinks dialog to build a hyperlink object in the document. A hyperlink object can be a single or series of hyperlinks grouped together.

To access this dialog, on the Insert tab, click Hyperlinks.

Lists the hyperlink object's existing hyperlinks.

Create a new hyperlink.

Delete the hyperlink currently selected in the preview.

Enter text which will appear in place of the hyperlink address. Use this field to hide a hyperlink with paragraph text such as "For more information click here." In this example, the word "here" is the location of the hyperlink. See the note below URL.

Interpreting the Display Text field as a calculation in Design Mode allows a document designer to use a cell reference or similar calculation to retrieve information. As an example, a User Defined Data entry (UD1 to UD15), or the Home Page field in the Working Papers Engagement Properties (CLP16) may be used as the link address.

Enter the hyperlink address. If no URL value is entered or the URL cannot be resolved then the text will not appear as a hyperlink in the document.

Text Color

Select the font color for the hyperlink. Please note, this color will only appear in digital versions of the document. When viewing a document in Print Preview, or when printing the document, the hyperlink will instead draw its color from the paragraph properties surrounding it.

Underline hyperlink text

Select whether or not the hyperlink should be underlined.

Allow modifications in Form Mode

Choose whether to allow an end user in Form Mode to add or edit hyperlinks by right-clicking and selecting Add or Edit.

Please note, when a hyperlink is added to the document in Design Mode, regardless of the state of the Allow modifications options, an end user in Form Mode or Form Mode with Enable Editing will not be able to make changes. Allowing modifications potentially gives an end user a method to add links to the document themselves and edit the links they have created.

Allow modifications in Form Mode with Enable Editing

Choose whether to allow an end user in Form Mode with Enable Editing to add or edit hyperlinks by right-clicking and selecting Add or Edit.

Show quick add link when modifiable

Select this option to create an "Add" link next to the inserted hyperlink object which allows users in Form Mode or Form Mode with Enable Editing to quickly add a new hyperlink. It is also possible to specify the text to appear as the 'add link' command in the field provided.

Notes

  • When entering text to appear in place of the hyperlink using this dialog in Design Mode, or when entering text into the URL field, it is necessary to use double-quotes as these fields are considered to be a calculation. In the Display Text example above, the text would appear as "here".
  • When editing the Display Text within Form Mode or Form Mode with Enable Editing, quotes are not necessary as the dialog will build the correct calculation based on the text entered.
