Knowledge Library Link Command

Use this command to create a link that updates the active document immediately with the new or prior knowledge base stored in your organization’s knowledge library. To modify an existing link, on the Home tab, click Section, and then click the Knowledge Library Link tab.

The filename of the Knowledge Library document and the Section Label are needed. They are taken as a calculation to permit increased flexibility and automation.

Knowledge Library filename

A file name is needed for the Knowledge Library document and section labels must be contained in quotation marks. To ensure you have the correct path and name for the Knowledge Library document, click Browse to locate the file manually.

Two functions can be useful for specifying filenames when creating templates with Knowledge Library links. If you wish to place the Knowledge Library document in the library directory you can refer to it by the calculation: prgdir()+"library\filename.cvw". This will eliminate the need to hardcode an absolute path that would require modification if the destination document is moved to another system. Similarly, CLNTDIR() retrieves the path to the client directory.

Section label

A Section Label for the Knowledge Library document is needed and section labels must be contained in quotation marks. To ensure you have the correct label of the section you want to insert, select the name from the drop-down list.
