Page Number Reference command

Use this dialog to add or edit a page number cross-reference. To edit a page number cross-reference quickly, double-click the page number cross-reference in the document.

Page number format

Select an option from the drop-down list to control the appearance of page number cross-references in the document.

Paragraph tag cross-references

Select options for tagging the paragraphs to include in the cross-reference.

Single page entry

To display the page number cross-reference as a single page number, select the Single page entry option.

Multiple page entry

To display the page number cross-reference as a range of pages, select the Multiple page entry option.

At/ from paragraph tag

Select a paragraph tag to link to the cross-referenced page. The page number cross-reference will provide the page number where the paragraph tag exists. If using a multiple page entry, this will represent the starting page in the range.

To paragraph tag

Select a paragraph tag that represents the last page in the range. This option is only applicable if inserting a multiple page number cross-reference.

If the paragraph the page reference refers to is skipped, the way the page reference displays will be affected in this way:

• If the previous (non skipped) paragraph and the following (non skipped paragraph) are on the same page, the cross reference takes the page number of those paragraphs.
• If the skipped reference lies between 2 pages, the first part of the cross-reference range or a single page reference uses the page number of the previous unskipped paragraph. The second part of the cross-reference uses the page number of the following paragraph.

Range separator

If using a multiple page cross-reference, select the type of separator to be used.

Select:	And CaseView:
Dash (# - #)	Uses a dash.
Tight dash (#-#)	Uses a tight dash.
'to' (# to #)	Uses the word "to".
'of' (# of #)	Uses the word "of".
Slash (#/#)	Uses a slash.
Custom	Allows the user to input customized separators for page cross-references. To select, pick custom from the range separator list and type the desired separators into the Custom – Single Page and Custom – Multiple Pages boxes. You can also click (...) beside each field to access the calculation editor dialog. Example: For a single page, the before text might be "Page" and the End, a "." .For Multiple pages, the Before text could be "Pages", the between "to" and the End ".". This would display as "Page 6." for a single page and "Pages 6 to 8." for multiple pages.
