Wide Table Printing tab - Table Properties dialog

Use this tab to set properties and options for wide tables.

To access the Wide Table Printing tab, the Enable wide-table printing option must be selected on the Table tab in the Table Properties dialog.

List the available columns and their attributes.

Print Width

May differ from both the Design Mode and Form Mode widths. Displays as zero if the column is skipped.

Width

Design Mode width.

Group Width

Displays the width of any columns with the Keep with Next Column option selected. Merged cells in the table are grouped automatically. When cells are merged, existing repeats and column breaks are removed.

Grouped columns should be treated as a single column as far as keep with next, breaking and repeat column options are concerned.

Repeat

Indicates the columns that are defined to repeat.

Break

Displays the type of page break (vertical or age) assigned to this column.

Pages/ Column Set(s)

Lists page numbers for table. For tables with Print Table Horizontally enabled, this displays the page the column will be printed on, given the current page setup. This number is not the actual page number – but a number relative to the position of the table in the document.

With wrapping selected, the column displays the column set in which it will be included.

Set the selected column to repeat as desired. This option can be used to print the first few columns of a table, such as the one containing the table title, on each page. For tables that wrap, these columns repeat at the right of each set of rows.

Print the selected column on the same page - or in the same row for wrapping tables - as the column that follows it. Merged columns keep together by default.

  • If columns are subsequently unmerged, the keep together is not removed automatically.
  • If the total width of all columns that are part of the keep together group exceeds the width of the page, CaseView displays a warning message. Any columns with merged squares are automatically considered a keep together group.

Force a new page break for the table after the selected column(s). For wrapping tables, the page break causes a new row to start when printing the table.

Note: Columns breaks override any defined keep together groups.

These settings apply to the entire table.

Print table

Horizontally

Print the table so that the first page width's worth of the table prints on a page and then consecutive columns of the table print on consecutive pages of the document. Only partial tables appear in the pages to the right and the remainder of the CaseView document prints with the left-most part of the table.

For example, if a document was made up of one short paragraph of text followed by a short but wide table that spanned two pages, followed by several more paragraphs with no page breaks, the printing order would be as follows: the first page with the text paragraph, the left most columns of the table, followed by the rest of the text. Page two would contain the remaining columns of the table. If there was a page break inserted after the table, the text after the table appears on page three, after the rest of the table.

Extremely tall tables should not be set to wrap as it may make them hard to read. In addition, printing a tall wrapping table on a page that has a large header, footer or carry forward header could cause content to be lost when printing.

Wrapping

Allow the wide tables to wrap when it prints, so that the portion that overflows the page to the right appears as a continuation of the table positioned under the first table on the page. In the example above, the rest of the document prints after the table.

Space between sets of rows

Set the space between the rows when wrapping a wide table.

Print Order

Specify the order in which the table cells are to be printed, by row or by column.
