Show Style Window command

Displays the Style Window in the Form Mode (with or without editing enabled). The Style Window is useful for identifying areas throughout the document that require input. Input paragraphs are denoted by red dots in the Style Window. CaseView’s default is to have this turned on.

For a complete listing of all the styles that appear in the style window, see About Style Window Contents.

The style bar always shows the style name for any paragraph, but the user can modify only the setting of a style for paragraphs when Apply Style permission is set.

By selecting a bar marking a section and right-clicking it, the user can access a short cut menu to Modify, Resize, Delete, or Select the section, assuming the user has the necessary permissions.

  • Modify - Use this command to edit settings and properties for the section clicked in the style area. The Section dialog will open.
  • Resize - Use this command to reduce or enlarge the section whose marker was clicked in the style area.
  • Delete - Use this command to delete the section whose marker was clicked in the style area. Its section properties will be removed but the content of the paragraphs and cells will remain.
  • Select - Use this command to select the section whose marker was clicked in the style area.

The style window also shows permission information about the current section of the document in both the Form Mode and the Form Mode with editing enabled. In the Form Mode, if the style window is turned on, a blue bar appears in the style window to denote sections. In Form Mode with editing enabled, the blue bar indicates sections that can be modified in this mode. Pointing the mouse at the blue bar provides a popup that gives information on available permissions for the section. In this both Design Mode and Form Mode with editing enabled, the style window also shows formatting information for each of the sections.

When permissions are enabled in CaseView, a blue indicator bar appears in the style window in Form Mode and Form Mode with editing enabled. These blue bars indicate sections where there are some permissions. The blue bars in the style window are not dependent on the cursor position.

For table column permissions, the permissions display in the ruler bar above the column.

In order to use this functionality, the "Enable indicator bar if permitted" check box must be checked in the Document Security tab.
