XBRL Global Settings Dialog - Context Definition Tab

Use this tab in the XBRL Global Settings dialog to define the settings for each XBRL context. You can use the search bar to filter context definition names.

To access this tab, select Tools | XBRL | Global Settings | Context Definition tab.

All available contexts and their corresponding information are displayed. Select the tag to be edited or click images\newcontext_shg.gif to create a new context.

To copy an existing context and then edit it, click images\copycontext_shg.gif .

To delete a selected context, click images\delcontext_shg.gif. When the Delete Context dialog opens, the option is available to delete all tags that use the context or to assign a new context for those tags.

To sort the available contexts, click the column header to sort in ascending or descending order. To manually sort the list, select a context and use the up/down arrows.

Name

Displays the descriptive name of the tag. It displays in the XBRL Document Tagging dialog.

 

Scenario

Select a scenario (actual, budget, prior year, etc.) for the context from the list or click Custom to create a new one.

To create a custom scenario, click Custom and identify the namespace, element name, attribute, and content.

 

In Period, select the reporting period for the selected context. Depending on the type of period selected, additional fields may appear for selection as follows.

Note: Select the Forever option for contexts that do not require a time period; for example, company names. When Forever is selected, no other selection needs to be made for the period.

Start

Click the drop-down list to select the start date for the reporting period or a point in time for a reporting date.

 

Applicable

Select when the reporting period is applicable for this context.

 

End

Select the end date of the reporting period.

 

Enter the entity information for the tag. The Scheme and Identifier information can be a unique identifier assigned by a government agency or other organization.

Note: This information must be entered as a calculation; if entering text, ensure it is surrounded by double-quotes. If this information is left blank, entered as standard text rather than a calculation, or if the result of the calculation is a blank value, a diagnostic error will appear during export.

Scheme

  • Enter the namespace URI that will act as the naming authority for the identifier.
  • Click images\calc_editor_shg.gif to use the Calculation Editor to complete this field.

 

Identifier

  • Enter a valid identifier for the selected scheme for the entity.
  • Click images\calc_editor_shg.gif to use the Calculation Editor to complete this field.

If applicable, select to further classify the Entity information. If the taxonomy supports it, select [Dimensional] to assign Dimensions to the context. Or, select Custom and click images\calc_editor_shg.gif to use the Calculation Editor to complete this field.

Click Advanced to create a custom segment element.
