Configuring the appearance of notes

In Financials, you can configure the appearance of notes in the financial statements. You can specify the appearance of note numbers and whether note indentation should change when the headings change.

Setting note number options

In financial statement areas that contain notes, you can specify how note numbers are to appear.

  1. In the Document Manager, open the CL - Organization standards document.
  2. From the Organization standards pane, select Formatting and Note Number. The Note Number pane appears, in which the note number options are displayed.

  3. From the Note number options for drop-down, select the financial statement area for which you want to specify the note number options. Depending on the financial statement area selected, options for any or all of Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 notes may become available.
  4. For each of the note levels provided in the Note Number pane, set the note number options desired. For more information on these options, see Note number options.
  5. If you want to ensure that the user cannot change a note number option provided here, click the Lock icon next to the appropriate drop-down.
  6. To preview what the financial statements will look like with the note number options you have selected, click Preview. A Formatting Properties screen appears that displays the look of a typical financial statement area. For more information on this screen, see the section Formatting Properties
  7. When you have completed all note number option specifications for all financial statement areas, select the Check when completed check box.

The note number options are now specified.

Updating note indentation when headings change

If note headings have changed, you can specify whether the note indentation should change to match.

  1. In the Document Manager, open the CL - Organization standards document.
  2. From the Organization Settings pane, select Formatting and Other. The Other pane appears.
  3. In the Notes section, from the Update note indentation when headings change drop-down, select Yes if the note indentation should change when the headings change, or select No if it should not.
  4. If Update note indentation when headings change is set to Yes, other drop-downs appear that enable you to provide additional indentation configuration. See Other for more details.
  5. If you want to ensure that the user cannot change a setting defined here, click the Lock icon next to its drop-down.
  6. To preview what the financial statements will look like with the column spacing and shading options you have selected, click Preview. A Formatting Properties screen appears that displays the look of a typical financial statement area. For more information on this screen, see the section Formatting Properties.

Note indentation now behaves as specified in the above options.
