Accpac preparation instructions for Windows 4.1B or later - Pervasive SQL version

In order to use the Accpac 4.1B or later (Pervasive SQL version) import, you must have the Pervasive SQL 2000 database engine installed on your machine. If you have Accpac Pervasive SQL installed on the same machine as the Working Papers program, the engine should already be installed. If not, the Pervasive SQL 2000 Database Engine is available from Pervasive software at www.pervasive.com. The download to locate is Pervasive PSQL Workgroup for Windows.

You can download the Pervasive SQL Workstation Engine evaluation software or purchase a license depending on your needs and usage. Please read the necessary documentation provided on the site (readme file) for installing Pervasive Software.

Working Papers is not allowed to redistribute the Pervasive software. Once correctly installed, Working Papers will detect the presence of the newer engine automatically during the import from Accoac for Windows 4.1B or later. Working Papers will use the newer engine instead of the older version.

For Pervasive 9.0 or later data files, both the server name and database name must be specified in Working Papers in order to successfully import data from ACCPAC. To retrieve these names, do one of the following:

  • Install Accpac

Generally, the server name is the same as the computer name.

To retrieve the database name from Accpac, go to Tools, then select Database copy. The Source Database dialog opens. The database name appears in the left column of this dialog.

  • Install Pervasive SQL, then create a database and attach the data file to it

The server name is usually the database engine (computer name) as indicated in the Pervasive.SQL Control Center.

  1. In the Pervasive.SQL Control Center, right-click on Databases located below the server name.
  2. Select New | Database. The New database dialog appears.
  3. Type the database name.
  4. Specify the location where the data files exist.
  5. Click Finish.
  6. Once you have recorded the database name and server name using either of the two methods, enter them into the Accpac Database dialog when it appears during the import.
