Creating a Multi-Level List
- Position the insertion point where you want to insert the first number.
-
On the Insert tab, click Note Number.
- In the Note subsections list, select One level number.
- In the Level 1 format box, select the way you want the number to appear.
- Click OK.
- Repeat steps 1 through 5 for each additional item in the list using the Two Level Number and Three Level Number as the Note subsections for any two or three level numbers.
- Use the Style box to apply built-in styles to format each of the levels with the correct indentation. For example, Note 2-1 Levels Bold is ideal for numbers in the first level while Note 3-2 Levels is ideal for numbers in the second level.
