Assign GIFI Number
If a GIFI number has not been automatically entered by auto-filling the map number's properties, use this screen to select a GIFI number for assignment to an account. Summary information about each GIFI number is listed. It can be displayed sorted by GIFI number or name.
An up or down arrow icon will appear at the right end of the column head to indicate by which category and in which direction the table is sorted. To change the way the table is sorted, click the appropriate column head. Click again to change direction.
GIFI (Canada only)
Access the account you are looking for in one of two ways:
- Scroll to it and click the line; or
- Click the Description column head and type the first few letters of the account name you're looking for. The selection bar will move to the appropriate range of GIFI numbers.
Description
Provides the full name of the GIFI number.
When you have located the account, click the line to enter the GIFI number into the browse window you are editing.
Recommendation
Although mapping is not necessary to use the GIFI, using the mapping number database will reduce workload. For example, if this account is assigned to a map number and the mapping numbers have been assigned to codes in the GIFI numbers database, then the GIFI codes can be automatically assigned to all accounts in the chart of accounts with one button click. >>How Do I?
