Downloading Backward Compatibility Components (SQL Server 2008 and Later)

Microsoft does not include the Backward Compatibility Components in the SQL Server downloads above version 2005, however, these components are required for imports into Working Papers. If you are using a version of SQL Server later than 2005, you will need to download and install these components.

  • An installed instance of SQL Server later than 2005.
  1. Open your browser and navigate to the Microsoft Download Center.
  2. In the Download Center, search for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 2 Feature Pack, or follow this link.
  3. Expand the Install Instructions section.
  4. Navigate to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility Components.
  5. Click on the relevant package to begin the download.
    • For a Windows 32-bit system, download the X86 Package (SQLServer2005_BC.msi).
    • For a Windows 64-bit system, download the X64 Package (SQLServer2005_BC_x64.msi).
  6. Run the installation until completed.

The SQL server will contain all of the components that will allow for its functionality during the import process into Working Papers.
