About the Engagement Cleanup
Use the Engagement Cleanup feature to ensure that sensitive information within your client file is removed and to help maintain the organization of your file.
How it Works
The Engagement Cleanup removes any unwanted documents, issues, history, milestones, and annotations from your Working Papers client file. Items in the file that are marked to be retained after a Cleanup will not be removed. These issues and documents to be retained are specified in the properties of the items, while for history and milestone events, the specifications are made in the Engagement Cleanup Wizard.
Items Available for Cleanup
The Engagement Cleanup clears any issues and documents that are not set to be kept after the Cleanup. For items to remain in the client file after Cleanup, the Retain on Cleanup checkbox must be checked in the properties of each item. History and milestone items can also be deleted from a Working Papers file using the Engagement Cleanup Wizard. This may be necessary if a file contains many events or has a lot of activity. You might have to delete the history and milestone events more than once in the life cycle of the engagement if the size of your client file becomes too large. For more information, see History database file size. History and milestone events are kept for documents that are not locked down prior to the Cleanup.
Cleaning up a Client File >>How Do I?
The Engagement Cleanup Wizard is used in performing a Cleanup. This wizard has is made up of two screens: one that gives Cleanup options and the other that outlines the tasks that will be performed. Completing the wizard will clean your client file, removing all unwanted items.

Best Practices: Cleanup and the Year-end Close
It is recommended that a Cleanup be performed before a year-end close to ensure that the new file contains only the wanted documents and information.
