Network Performance

To test network performance, try the following:

  1. From the affected workstation, ping the address of the parent file host. Unstable network connections display timed out responses and/or high packet loss percentages.
  2. Run the Sync Stress tool, to confirm network issues.
  3. Isolate the user access profiles to troubleshoot them separately and determine if the issue is related to a certain type of connectivity.

Some examples of typical access profiles are:

    • Parent files on the same LAN - wired 1GB connection
    • Client site 1 - VPN over client network/Internet
    • Client site 2 - VPN over mobile network
  4. Gather information about user computers, servers and networks:

    • Workstation operating system, service packs, manufacturer, and model.
    • File server(s) operating system, service packs, manufacturer, and model.
    • LAN/WAN manufacturer(s), encryption, and network acceleration.
