Deleting an office or department code

Office and department codes may be deleted if necessary. If office and department types have been entered and assignments have been made then deleting a code can erase information in transactions and in the staff records. Users need the chance to cancel the change. Therefore, Time provides warning messages each time a change is attempted.

Office and department types cannot be deleted unless they are not assigned to any entries or billings. Before one can be deleted, its assignments in the Assign Areas browse must also be deleted.

If one or more staff members is assigned to the office, a message appears to let the user decide whether to proceed with the deletion. If the user goes ahead and deletes the code, the office code is removed from the staff records.

If one or more staff members is assigned to the dept, a message appears to let the user decide whether to proceed with the deletion. If the user goes ahead and deletes the code, the department code is removed from the staff records.
