The Year End Close Command

You may close to a new file name or to a file name that already exists. If next year's file does not exist, Working Papers automatically creates the file during the year-end process.

  • Closing to an existing file is typically done for a multiple Year End Close. A Multiple Year End Close allows a user to work on a new current year’s file, even though the previous year’s file is not yet complete, by doing a close on the file and creating a new file for the next year's work. When all work is complete, a second year-end is run on the file, closing it to the new file that was created. Not all closing steps are repeated when the second year-end is done to the existing file.
  • This command will be disabled if outstanding child files exist. For more information, see Maintenance Wizard - Abandon Synchronized Copies.
  • You can close the file to the same name as your current file. However, the new file replaces the old file. You will no longer have access to last year’s file, as it is replaced by the new year’s file. It is strongly recommended to make a backup of the file before closing out to the same file name.
  • Documents and Issues are rolled forward based on whether they have the Roll Forward checkbox selected in their properties or not. To view the items that are marked to roll forward, while in the Document Manager, on the View menu, select Filter By and then Marked for Roll Forward.
  • If the source file is protected and has a security ID set, that security ID overwrites the security ID of the destination file.
